SPOKE is run by SPOKE Tennis in Neutral Bay, Sydney, Australia (about SPOKE). This explains what we keep, why, and how to get rid of it.
What stays on your phone
- The court you picked, and your profile if you don’t give an email.
- Where you are, when you tap “near me” or “use my location”. It is rounded to about a kilometre and used on the phone.
What we keep, if you give us your email
- Your name, email address, mobile number and postal address.
- Your postcode, your home court, how often you play, whether you’re interested in coaching, and whether you have a private court.
- Anything you add to your profile — your kit bag, your string card, what you’d like coaching help with and when, and: which hand you play with, your level, your racquet, its length and grip, strings, tension and when it was last strung, shoes and size, the balls you use, and what you’re thinking of buying next.
- When you joined.
- If you arrived from an ad or a link, the name of that link (for example “facebook”).
Why
- To send you member offers and discounts by email, and — when stringing pick-up and delivery starts — to collect and return your racquet. Your mobile is only used to reach you about your account or a pick-up; we don’t send marketing texts.
- To email you about Court Shade, coaching, restringing, gear and offers that suit what you play with, Court Shade Private, and other SPOKE Tennis apps (including a tennis hitting app we’re building). Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To understand who uses it, by area — so we know which courts to add next.
We don’t sell your details or give them to anyone else to market to you.
Tip-offs and problem reports
Tip-offs about a club (parking, wet courts, courts free or taken) carry no name. Each phone gets a random code, so the same phone can’t keep reporting, and tip-offs disappear after two hours.
A problem you report to a club (a gate or PIN not working, lights out, damage, someone behaving badly, feeling unsafe) needs your email. That report goes only to that club, with your name, email and mobile if you gave one, so they can follow up and so reports can’t be made up. It is never shown in the app. Clubs see these for 7 days. If you feel unsafe, call 000.
Who else handles it
- The weather and air-quality forecast comes from Open-Meteo, and the live reading for “right now” from the nearest Bureau of Meteorology station (fetched through our server). Both are asked about a point rounded to roughly a suburb; nothing about you is sent.
- Sign-up details are stored with our database provider (Airtable) through our server (Render). Emails are sent through Resend. These services may store data outside Australia, including in the United States.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Me → Delete my details. That removes your email and answers from our list straight away, and the emails stop. You can also email us and we’ll do it for you.
